This second residency was a very special and important one for Section Amour. Indeed: it was the introductory event of our new project, "Ballons d'amour" (Love Balloons), and the first time we were invited to perform at the 38ème Rugissants Festival.
The members of the Section were always interested in having the audience involved in the sequence of events of a Section Amour session, and with the technical and designing assistance of Pauline Boyer and of the Soixante Circuits Atelier, we developped a unique scenographic and technical voting system. Consisting in suspended luminous ballons which react through simple touching and of a totally redesigned Event.live software, it enables the audience to directly affect the improvisations in a very simple manner.
We spent three days on the premises with Soixante Circuits, roaming in the snowy streets of Grenoble to gather "couleurs", and calibrating technical details for this BETA version of the installation. The performance itself took place in the evening of November, 28 at EVE Campus universitaire St Martin d'Hères, and we were delighted to improvise with special guests Franky Serpinet and Didier Morel de Bela.
"Ballons d'Amour" project is supported by DICREAM.
Section Amour played for the "Mal Au Pixel" Festival at Mains d'Oeuvres (Paris) the 20 april 2007.
For this show, 12 people of the audience have been able to interact with the application EventLive and influenced the show. This audience vote system has been developped by "Dans ses cheveux soixante circuits" peoples.

"AMOUR NOTICES" - SECTION AMOUR EXHIBITION
Opening Sunday 17 th. April at 16.00. Free entry.
April 09 and 10, the members of the Section Amour immersed in Amsterdam in order to collect, gather and elaborate in situ "colors" and indications of improvisation to feed the buffer memory of the software, i.e., texts, pictures, visuals, videos, sound samples, colors, forms...
We wandered in the streets of Amsterdam, all aware, eyes and ears, in small groups of three, and met at night at Lloyd Hotel in order to build the pics, sounds, videos and video loops.
April 11 and 12, Section Amour used the data bank of "colors" gathered and edited, together with the colors submitted by the public on the website "upload" section (see upload pages) to improvise 15 hours of music. Everything was recorded.
April 13 and 14, Section Amour got into the edit part, selecting and editing chosen extracts from the real-time recorded sessions, to elaborate the album and its multimedia part. You can download it for free on the mp3 pages. We also played an unplugged live showcase at Lloyd Hotel, and started working on the videos for the exhibition.
April 15:
We played at Café Pakhuis Wilhelmina, a shorter session, trying to improvise music in the spirit of the 2 previous days of sonic explorations. We also played a bunch of solo or collective mini live acts. This evening didn't really go as we expected, but we partied hard. The album was also made available for the first time.
April 16 and 17:
We worked hard, really hard, to achieve the exhibition itself. We edited and cut the two documentary movies. We put the selected music and colors together for the interactive device. We painted on a wall. We tried to remember all the places where we went and found interesting features for the colors. We didn't sleep much. You can see below the exhibition pictures and the music and colors together videoclips.
Meant as a deceiving footprint of what happened during the one week residency, "Amour Notices" plays with the blur line between artistic content and the bumpy road that leads to its achievement. When deploying for a residency, Section Amour is as much interested in the process, the long hours of music playing and data fishing and editing, than in the final proposition. "Amour Notices" is thus an account of our passing in Consortium and Amsterdam. You can find two random tinted, abounding films, an interactive device using the same voting system we use when improvising with the machine (see project pages) and displaying a selection of music and the colors that inspired them, as well as an impressionistic account of our color-fishing in the form of a map.

Les Halles de Schaerbeek, Bruxelles - November 2004
November, 14 and 15 : Data Fishing. The members of the collective immersed themselves into the details of the city, to plunder here and about data, texts, videos, souns, to feed the software.
November, 16 and 17: 2 X 8 hour improvised marathon, against the software and with the data plundered. Collaborative battle with the musical collectives Buffle, Plochinen, and members of the Ensemble Q02.
November, 18: Conclusive 3 hour concert.
November, 19 and 20: The Section divided itself in two, in order to achieve the final editing and realisation of a hybrid artefact, a cd with a multimedia section, exclusive artwork limited to 99 copies.
The event that started it all. A three day, 3 X 8 hours, improvisation, with no limit or complex apparatus, just for the sake of playing. It literally provoked the urge to create a constraining system for long time improvisation.
